The Fishing Vessel “Isabella” needs a US Licensed Master for a 1600 Gross Ton vessel with Tuna Vessel Experience with a STCW 95 Reg 11/1 or a II/2 credential and meets the requirements for a class six purse seine vessel.  The desired candidate would have Certificate or Training in First Aid, Fire Fighting, Fire Drills, Safety, Security Endorsement, GMDSS operator and have a ETP Operator Certificate.  Having experience with the Vessel Safety Exam, the IOPPC, SOPEP, NTVRP, IAPPC and the newer EIAPP Requirements would be very helpful.  . It is also helpful to have experience in Western Pacific and familiar with the reporting rules of the US Treaty with the Pacific Island States including Non Fishing Days.

The “Isabella” is a 200 foot US flag tuna vessel that operates in the Western Pacific.  Vessel bases operation out of American Samoa with fishing trips that last 30 to 75 days depending on catch.

The candidate must have knowledge of a purse seine operation and must be capable of performing functions of the vessel master including the basic handling and moving the vessel.   In addition he must be capable of operating the hydraulic system for the operation of the booms, winches and motors

It is desired that the candidate stay on the vessel for the shorter of a 6 month period or 3 trips and will be allowed to return home at the company expense.

Requirements:

  • Chief Engineer license 4000 HP uninspected minimum
  • General knowledge in Tuna purse seine operations
  • 4 year min experience with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems
  • Brine Freezing of Tuna or Tuna like species
  • Transshipping experience of Tuna or Tuna like species
  • Hydraulic Systems maintenance and repair experience a must

GS Fisheries operates three US flagged tuna purse seiners in the Central and Western Pacific Ocean. The vessels are 60 to 90 meters long and carry 800 to 1300 metric tons of frozen tuna.
